Black Friday brought out the rowdy side of Wal-Mart shoppers early this morning when the Upland location shut down for more than two hours after customers caused a ruckus inside.
Store management called Upland police at 2:44 a.m., asking for assistance in dealing with customers who were "fighting inside," said Lt. Jim Etchason.
The world we live in.
Sigh......
Beating on the doors at Wal-Mart, demanding to get -in-. Bet that can make for some funniest home videos..
what a bunch of morons
Morons Indeed! Makes me ill! :-( Real Christmas Spirit there!
Hello G. H.,
Your invoking the word 'Morons' in this Wal-Mart context, made me think of a new concept: Walla morons. It is not a fair image. But like a bad song looping in my mind, it persists and stays there. So my next Zen exercise will be not to think of a Walla Moron.
Okay then Karl, how about meditating on "Wal-martians"! (new word from Gail's personal dictionary) LOL ♥
Not very nice, I know.......................but then apparently, neither are they! :-)
#4.2: "Wal-martians"
Careful that you don't tick off the real Martians....
:-)
When my wife went to get donuts this morning, our friends who run the place told us that ambulances had to be called to one of the local Wal-Marts.
Don't these idiots every figure out that this crap is uncalled for.

Gripe, gripe, gripe because there are no jobs, the economy's bad, and life in general sucks, and what do they do? Run out and fight over who gets the -Made in China- piece of plastic or tin first.
Dummies.
I say @!$%# 'em.
Not much else you can do, really, when so many have lost their way.
Eventually, only the idiots and greedy, selfish numbnuts will shop on Black Friday. Decent people will choose to stay home or shop online. I stopped shopping on Black Friday years ago because crowds acted like 2-year-olds loose in a candy store. There is nothing I want or need badly enough to risk my life for it, and shopping on Black Friday is nothing if not attempted suicide.
Bah, humbug.

you took the words right out of my mouth bitemore!! Couldn't have said it any better myself...thank you!
and mine too! I am very happy to do my surfing in my recliner and just going to the store once during the season to get the small stuff like holiday and baking groceries, stocking stuffers and stuff I may have not been able to find online.
Mt and Husker: I hope that some day soon the retailers will start thinking in terms of catering to the sane shopper instead of the herds and the herd mentality. Some are already beginning to plan around the anti-Black Friday group by offering better prices and selection a week before Thanksgiving. I was at a mall last weekend, and a jeweler there said he was offering better pricing that day than on Black Friday and he knew a number of other shops at the mall that were doing the same thing.
I am still boycotting Walmart; and rarely shop at the other big-box stores that do the 4 AM Black Friday thing... at some point shoppers have to bite the bullet and decide not to patronize these sensation-seeking, very dangerous tactics of the Big Boxes in favor of the more rational retailers who are just as deserving, if not more so, of making a profit.
I hope y'all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
You couldn't pay me to shop on Black Friday at a store. I stayed cozy in my house and ate a turkey sandwich. It's sad that this door storming and violence seems to escalate every year.
I have a friend that works as security at Target in California and he HATES Black Friday. He was telling me during a phone conversation about 2 women screaming and clawing at one another over some stupid toy. He said they were rolling on the floor and pulling each others hair while their CHILDREN WATCHED! I wanted to say I couldn't believe it, but instead I sighed......I do believe it.
I go to Wal Mart frequently, living in a small town in Illinois, it's really all there is. Thankfully the one here is brand new, the people that work there are nice and efficient, and it is open 24 hours. I didn't hear of a single problem happening. Maybe we were lucky.
