Conan O'Brien told NBC on Tuesday that he won't let his Tonight Show be bumped to the after-midnight hour so Jay Leno can return to late night.

The refusal, which he made public in a statement to the "People of Earth," effectively will force NBC to either ditch its plan or risk losing him to another network.
