The city will have the same five swimming pools open this summer as last year despite zero funding for pools in the Park Department budget, the City Council was told Tuesday.

Park Director Lucy Dolman said she feels fortunate to be able to open five pools with no city funding this year. The city is relying on past Park Department donations to open the pools, she said.

The five pools are Berry, Lacy, McClure, Reed and Whiteside.

Last year, those pools were selected according to where they are and availability of other pools in the area to ensure children have access to a pool whether it's owned by city, county, YMCA, or neighborhood, Dolman said.
