The Kmart in Washington Township is one of more than 100 Kmart and Sears locations closing in the coming weeks and months following a December announcement by Sears Holdings.
Sears Holdings announced the closure of more than 100 Kmart and Sears locations in an effort to generate $140 million to $170 million in cash as the inventory of those stores is sold.
The Kmart location in Washington Township along Van Dyke north of 30 Mile Road is one of several locations in Michigan that will close. That location opened in Washington Township approximately 20 years ago.
